Interactive Video (IV) is defined as a unique blend of audio, visual and textual databases together with computing technologies. The data, audio and image bases are usually held on a videodisc, which, in turn, is controlled by a microcomputer. Through the computer a user of an IV system is able to interact with the material held on the videodisc, to question, to explore, to respond and to receive answers. In short, random access to information and a retrieval pattern determined by user intervention makes IV one of the most effective and flexible means of communication.
