AN IMPORTANT new development has taken place in the fundamental concept on which the CSE rests. The original Beloe concept was a distinct and separate examination below the level of GCE ‘O’ level. It now turns out that a much more fundamental shake‐up is under consideration which could result in the discontinuation of the ‘O’ level GCE examination and its replacement by the CSE. In these circumstances GCE would presumably be restricted to ‘A’ and ‘S’ papers.
