The MOL Manpower Research Unit came into existence in 1963 with a staff of two: it now has a staff of 20 or thereabouts. It cannot be expected to have achieved wonders by this early date. Nevertheless its first report, entitled — perhaps a little misleadingly — ‘The Pattern of the Future’, is welcome and can be described as competent but dull.
