People connected with training in the engineering industry have been waiting, almost with bated breath, for two announcements: that giving the name of the Director of the Engineering Industry Training Board and that formally stating the size of the levy. Readers will recall that we have returned, on several occasions, to the theme that the EITB has been playing the game with its cards too close to its chest and has seriously fallen down on the job of public relations. It now appears that we have been looking for our information in the wrong place; on Monday, 5th April, the Board's decision on both these vital matters was revealed in the centre of the front page of the Financial Times.
