The teaching of industrial relations in further education

Young workers today are entering industry during a critical period in the history of the nation. The impetus towards economic growth and the increasing awareness of the importance of productivity have released forces which are reshaping our traditional industrial institutions. It is conceivable that the technological changes of the next decade will make considerable demands upon the resilience and adaptability of the young people who are now being trained in industry. Within the last two years there have been pronounced indications of the new developments that are taking place in our industrial society. The Industrial Training Act, the Contracts of Employment Act, the Redundancy Payment Act, the Royal Commission into Trade Unions, and the National Plan are but some of the measures adopted by the State to change the pattern of our industrial institutions.
