A new look at college building. The manual of the planner of technical college buildings is Building Bulletin No 5 which is now under revision by the Department of Education and Science — and high time too. Most technical college building has been based on a rigid idea of students at work in groups of 25 in classrooms and laboratories from 9 am till 5 pm. The rigid pattern of teaching accomodation and the small scale of provision of offices, libraries, work‐rooms, and amenities for staff and students, in sharp contrast with provision in universities, is explained not by the parsimony of the authorities but by their insistence that a technical college is merely a senior secondary school.
