This article demonstrates how training agencies and other business institutions could follow the lead of Teesside Business School by reviewing their residential seminars and “in‐house” workshops. Such residential courses, it is argued, can be further enhanced as a learning exercise by refining and critically assessing current evaluation systems. At Teesside this was done using the BA(Hons) Business Studies degree as a model. The theoretical framework for reviewing some of these practical issues is provided by utilising a structured approach to systems analysis. This approach produces a more appropriate model than those used in many current systems.
