The European Parliament has voted to simplify the system for recognizing across the EU the diplomas and qualifications obtained in one member state.

The single set of proposals would replace more than 35 pieces of legislation which currently cover this question in crafts, industry and commerce.

The proposals would introduce a new provision for member states to choose between a transition period or an aptitude test in assessing the skill level of workers.
