Projects ranging from the creation of a labour-market observatory to the modernization of vocational training and the creation of a network of Euro-Mediterranean economic and social councils have been selected for funding under the EU Meda programme.

The programme, which seeks to promote co-operation between the EU and non-member states in the Mediterranean, has a budget of 3.425 billion ecus for 1996-99.
