Keywords European Union, Training and enterprise councils, Unemployment

Unemployed people in Portsmouth and Southampton are set to benefit from £672,000 of European funding secured by Hampshire Training and Enterprise Council.

Four bids have been approved to support projects aimed at helping hundreds of people to gain the skills and experience needed to re-enter the workforce.

The money will be used to create fixed-term jobs in Southampton and to support a construction-training programme in Portsmouth. Training in various construction-related skills will take place at Highbury College, Portsmouth, and the Millennium Training Centre at St Vincent College, Gosport.
