The European Commission has authorised a package proposed by the Swedish Government to reduce long-term unemployment. The package will allow companies to receive aid amounting to up to half of the gross wages of each long-term jobless person they hire, for a maximum of six months. The firms taking part will have to train these employees to make them capable of holding a job in the long term.
