Graduates make up at least half the workforce in a third of call centres and some appear to see the work as a good way into the business world. Research by Thus, a provider of voice, data, Internet and interactive services, reveals that, on average, graduates stay in the call centre for more than a year. The research also shows that some of the call centre graduate employees are able to use the skills they acquired at university. Some 17 per cent of those surveyed said that fluency in at least one foreign language was essential for their job,while 40 per cent said that a technical understanding was the most important skill for their position.
