The European Commission has approved an education and initial vocational training programme for Greece, for the period 2000-2006. The programme involves EU support for all the Greek regions lagging behind in their development. The aid totals 1.5 billion euros from the European Social Fund and 382 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund. It will contribute to an available investment total of 2.5 billion euros from Greek private and public funds.
