The European Facilities Management Conference

16-17 January Palacio Municipal de Congresos, Madrid

Organised by SEFM (the Spanish Facility Management Society) and EuroFM, the European Facilities Management Conference will be held concurrently with Expo FM(16-18 January).

The two-day conference will be an opportunity to:

• Discuss problems, sometimes presented from different angles, and their possible solutions, which the delegates may encounter in their own surroundings.

• Listen to developments in several fields or countries so that delegates may pick the best practical means to introduce them in their organizations.

• Exchange ideas, information and results from R&D to advance knowledge and know-how and broaden the vision of attendees on aspects of FM.

• Follow the change in organisational concepts and see which (computer aided)supporting tools may help to improve outputs in efficiency, effectiveness and flexibility.

• Network and share ideas with professionals, researchers, consultants,academics and suppliers.

Electromagnetic Environments and Health in Buildings Conference

16-17 May

The effects of electromagnetic radiation fields are of great interest at present because of the increasingly large number of people using VDUs and mobile phones. This is a potentially emotive area but everyone is agreed that there need to be more research and dissemination of knowledge.

Abacus Communications, in conjunction with the University of Reading and the University of Bristol, is organising a two-day conference entitled: "Electromagnetic Environments and Health in Buildings". The conference will consider the effects of electromagnetic radiation on health, current legal and insurance implications, and will address emissions, standards and future developments.

Conference chairman, Professor Derek Clements-Croome, of the University of Reading, is a leading authority in workplace health and links between employee wellbeing and productivity. He will be joined by principal international researchers from universities, hospitals and mobile phone companies, as well as presenters from the legal and insurance professions to ensure wide-ranging viewpoints.

This Conference will be important to health and safety officers, facilities managers, office service managers, IT personnel, workplace designers,researchers, and anyone who has a direct involvement or an interest in health and productivity within the workplace.
