Traffic to the site running at 90 per cent above target
i-FM.net has seen traffic projections wiped out with figures reaching 590,000 requests by September 2000, an incredible 90 per cent above the 310,000 target that was set in March. The utilisation of the site has been rapidly increasing, with a massive 12,028 visits in September – that is 64.5 per cent above target, and up more than 72 per cent quarter on quarter! Also, growth in the number of month on month registrations peaked this month at a rate of over 13 per cent. i-FM now has just under 4,000 registered users with many more visitors reading the freely accessible daily news on the site.
As a daily updated on-line facilities management tool, i-FM is speeding the industry into the future and acting as the backbone of communications for the European FM community. The portal also provides comprehensive sections on technology, the top 20 companies, product promotion and recruitment, as well as relevant industry surveys. For FMs, clients, service providers and consultants alike, i-FM.net provides the means to discover, investigate, discuss and network. It is hardly surprising, therefore, that this definitive business-to-business Web portal is becoming widely known as the intranet for the facilities management industry.
Companies with their own intranets can now license a news feed from the site to be seamlessly uploaded to their site. "The dynamics of how information can be provided is evolving all the time – we are utilising both push and pull technologies. The important issue to consider is not so much how the information reaches your FMs – but that directors or managers ensure that it does. It is widely accepted that knowledge sharing is critical to business success, and we are providing the new-media platforms to enable this to happen within the FM industry", said David Emanuel, managing director of i-FM. He also added, "We have a whole planned programme of technical improvements and new features to create a more effective on-line FM exchange, but that's all for another press release."
