FOR most laymen the work of a librarian is summed up in the remark: “Oh! you just hand out books!” There would be little fun or interest in our work if we were limited to such a routine task. There are times, indeed, when your real librarian is unhappy unless he has some teaser of an enquiry to occupy his attention.
