This study aims to present a bibliometric analysis of disability insurance (DI) research, exploring its growth, major trends, influential authors and journals and thematic areas to provide insights for advancing future research and policy development.
This study uses bibliometric analysis of Scopus-indexed literature on DI, reviewing publication trends, citation patterns and keywords to identify major contributors, themes, disciplines, geographical distribution and the interdisciplinary nature of research in this field.
The analysis shows steady growth in DI research across disciplines like medicine, social sciences, economics and law, highlighting key themes such as labor market impact, social security, rehabilitation programs and mental health issues.
This study is limited by database scope and time frame. Future research could expand data sets and bibliometric indicators. Findings inform researchers on DI research and guide policymakers in designing effective programs.
The findings of this study provide insights for policymakers and practitioners, highlighting trends and gaps to shape effective, equitable DI policies, especially regarding labor market integration, health-care assessments, technology use and guiding research and interventions for individuals with disabilities.
