Personalisation means thinking about housing, care and support services in an entirely different way. It means starting with the person as an individual. This article looks at what personalisation means for housing providers, for instance tailoring support to people's individual needs to enable them to live full and independent lives. The Social Care Institute for Excellence says that housing providers must now be focused on giving people much more choice in how and where they want to live, as well as being committed to ensuring that those homes are well‐designed, flexible and accessible. We explore the challenges associated with this significant transformation in adult social care and look at case studies where businesses and individuals are already geared up to put people first.
