The 65th IFLA Council and General Conference on the theme ''Libraries as Gateways to an Enlightened World'' will be held at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre,Bangkok, Thailand on 20-28 August 1999. It is being held under the Royal Patronage of KingÇBhumibol Adulyadej.
There are three sub-themes to the conference which are: strengthening the gateway; assuring the quality and quantity of information; and networking for ''quality of life''.
Activities will include:presentation of professional papers, lectures by guest speakers; library seminars, workshops, roundtables; professional visits to libraries and information centres in Thailand; visits to cultural and historical sites;professional and trade exhibitions; cultural events and informal meetings.
