Keywords: Africa, Research, Journal publishing

INASP's African Journals OnLine assists all those who need access to research and information on Africa. Its long-term aim is to provide a comprehensive coverage of all scholarly journals currently published in Africa.

It offers free access to the tables of contents and abstracts of over 70 journals in all disciplines, together with links to full text, where available,and a document delivery service.

New features added during 2001 include:

  • journals from South Africa and Francophone Africa;

  • links to journals about Africa but published elsewhere;

  • pages in French as well as in English;

  • instructions to authors;

  • purchase of full-text articles by credit card.

Over 2,500 people have registered to use the service and the AJOL pages receive over 44,000 hits each month. To access this database go to: http://www.inasp.info/ajol/
