Linda database launched on the Web

Keywords Databases, Libraries, Finland

The Linda database, which is the union catalogue of Finnish research libraries, is produced by the Helsinki University Library. It contains 3.1 million bibliographic records and the estimated annual growth is 250,000. The database is now accessible via the Internet and is available from 7a.m. to 11p.m.

Z39.50 Protocol is used to locate records on Linda, which show in which Finnish research libraries the publication can be found. An inter-library loan request form is also available which can be directed to the appropriate library. At the moment this request can not be made directly via Linda, but must be forwarded by more traditional methods.
