Conservation service over-stretched and under-resourced

Oxford Brookes University has carried out research for English Heritage and the Institute of Historic Building Conservation. Its findings include the fact that local authority conservation officers are over-worked and under-paid. Their median salary is nearly £2,000 below the national average for all employment.
