City & Guilds has carried out a survey of over 1,000 workers and report that 43 per cent have suffered work-related stress and of these 67 per cent blame their heavy workload. Twelve percent state that the added pressure is due to being given added responsibility with no appropriate training. Bizarrely (but something your editor can relate to) nearly half of the sample surveyed by C& Gs were in academic professions.
