Article Type: Reviews of effectiveness From: Clinical Governance: An International Journal, Volume 15, Issue 3

Non-small Cell Lung Cancer Collaborative Group,Chemotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer: a meta-analysis using updated data on individual patients from 52 randomised controlled trials,BMJ,1995,Vol. 311,pp. 899-909

This generally well-conducted review concluded that adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery for patients with operable non-small-cell lung cancer improved survival, with or without adjuvant radiotherapy. The results are likely to be reliable, but generalisability may be limited given that most participants were male, had state I to II adenocarcinomas or squamous cell carcinomas, underwent complete resection and received cisplatin regimens.
