Life satisfaction and occupational competence of Syrians under temporary protection in Türkiye: a cross-sectional study

Kardelen Yıldırım is based at the Department of Occupational Therapy, Bezmialem Vakif University, Istanbul, Türkiye. Kardelen Yıldırım, MSc. OT. Since 2020, an academic role has been held at Bezmialem Vakıf University as a lecturer. Her research has been focused on pediatric and oncologic rehabilitation, occupational science and art therapy. Various articles, book chapters and conference presentations have been published. Contributions have been made to the understanding of participation, community-based approach, and well-being within the scope of occupational therapy.

Gülşah Zengin Yazıcı is based at the Department of Occupational Therapy, Bezmialem Vakif University, Istanbul, Türkiye. Gülşah Zengin Yazıcı, PhD. OT. Received her undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral education in Occupational Therapy at Hacettepe University. Academic positions have been held at various institutions, and she has served as Assistant Professor at Bezmialem Vakıf University since 2024. Her research has been focused on schizophrenia, sensory processing, occupational justice and child and adolescent mental health. Numerous scientific publications, book chapters and conference presentations have been produced. Contributions have been made to both national and international occupational therapy literature through her multidisciplinary and participatory approach.

Beyzanur Demirci is based at the Department of Occupational Therapy, Bezmialem Vakif University, Istanbul, Türkiye. Beyzanur Demirci, MSc. OT. A bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Bezmialem Vakıf University and a master’s degree from Istanbul Medipol University. An academic position has been held at Bezmialem Vakıf University since 2022. Her research has been centered on adolescent mental health, digital addiction and occupational balance. A book chapter and several conference presentations have been published. Contributions have been made to the growing field of occupational therapy in psychiatry and technology-assisted rehabilitation.

Sümeyye Sarışahin is based at the Department of Occupational Therapy, Bezmialem Vakif University, Istanbul, Türkiye. Sümeyye Sarışahin, MSc. OT. Graduated from Bezmialem Vakıf University with a degree in Occupational Therapy. A master’s degree was completed at Biruni University, and doctoral studies have been continued at the University of Health Sciences. Academic roles have been held at Bezmialem Vakıf University since 2022. Research has been conducted on occupational justice, child and adolescent mental health and homelessness. Book chapters and academic presentations have been delivered at national and international conferences.

Sedef Şahin is based at the Department of Occupational Therapy, Hacettepe University, Ankara, Türkiye. Sedef Şahin, Associate Professor Dr A bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation was earned at Başkent University. Both a master’s and a PhD in Occupational Therapy were completed at Hacettepe University. Since 2013, academic roles have been held at the same institution, currently as Associate Professor. Her work has been focused on pediatric and oncologic rehabilitation, as well as virtual reality applications. Numerous peer-reviewed articles and clinical research studies have been published, contributing significantly to occupational therapy literature.
