Purpose

This study aims to explore the synergistic effects of multiple factors driving digital transformation in high-end equipment manufacturing enterprises and identify the most effective digital transformation path to enhance organizational resilience.

Design/methodology/approach

We took listed companies of China’s high-end equipment manufacturing enterprises as samples, combined with the technology-organization-environment (TOE) framework, and adopted the fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) to analyze the antecedent configuration of digital transformation. The propensity score matching (PSM) was used to compare the differential impact of different digital transformation paths on organizational resilience.

Findings

The combination linkage drive of multiple factors has formed three digital transformation paths for high-end equipment manufacturing enterprises: structure environment driven, collaborative driven within and outside the organization, and full dimensional composite driven. The collaborative driven path within and outside the organization has a better effect on enhancing the organizational resilience of high-end equipment manufacturing enterprises.

Originality/value

The conclusions are conducive to deepen the understanding of the multiple driving paths of digital transformation in high-end equipment manufacturing enterprises, and provide operational suggestions for the digital transformation and organizational resilience improvement of high-end equipment manufacturing enterprises.
