Discusses the nature and purpose of BS5750 quality accreditation and registration procedures, including a definition of quality as“fitness for purpose and safe in use”. Examines the parts of BS5750 and the contents of the Quality Manual which an organization needs to be eligible for registration. Surmises that the costs of BS5750 registration are only a small part of the production of a Quality Manual, and that accreditation is a useful starting point for TQM.
