And as if to prove the point above, recent talks between GE and its unions over productivity at a warehousing operation for dishwashers and refrigerators has led to an agreement by both parties that productivity can, and should, be improved. There was a simple incentive for this agreement – the facility loses $40 million annually and management had threatened workers that their jobs would be outsourced. These things do focus the mind!
