Two micropower low dropout (LDO) regulators for stand-by applications in portable and fixed power-sensitive systems are now available from Micrel Semiconductor, an industry leader in power management and high-speed communication ICs. Consuming only 18uA of quiescent current, the MIC5233 is capable of supplying up to 100mA of output current, and the MIC5235 is capable of supplying 150mA. The MIC5233 supports an input voltage range of 2.3V to 36V,and the MIC5235 supports a range of 2.3V to 24V. Both devices are new additions to Micrel's line of IttyBitty(TM) SOT-23-5 LDO regulators featuring uCap capability which allows a choice of either ceramic or tantalum capacitors. "The MIC5233 and MIC5235 are not limited to battery operated applications," said John McGinty, Senior Product Marketing Engineer.
