Hearing voices
Aimed at saving time and money reprinting internal telephone directories and looking for phone numbers, Storacall Voice Systems has launched a speech recognition system that accesses the numbers of companies and various contacts via voice. Using natural language recognition, the system can retrieve a number and then automatically dial it on request. It also recognises different terms of address for any individual and can call them at multiple locations, whether at the desk, at home, on the mobile or through a secretary. The system has the option of providing a similar service to external callers, automatically putting them through to the person they wish to speak to. Contact names can be imported from an existing corporate database or individual data store and the system then uses text-to-speech technology to enable the organisation's directory to be updated immediately with the amended details.
