Not like that …

Compliance with legislation and regulation gets ever harder – "there's a lot of it about" (legislation and regulation). Most of this is well-meaning but it makes it very difficult to ensure total compliance. Exhortation is certainly not enough! Training helps, but is likely to be "necessary but not sufficient". Strong discipline helps – but again will not complete the job. The only thing that will work is a shared, corporate set of values that incorporate those values enshrined and reflected in the legislation and regulation. Employees need to feel that "we don't do it like that, here"to cases of potential transgression and adjust their behaviours automatically to comply with the prevailing culture.
