Spend, spend, spend

The UK government's annual IT bill will reach £10bn by the end of 2002,an increase of about 30 per cent over the last five years. The figures published in UK Public Sector overview suggest that telecomms services and software will be the big new spend areas, with education and health being the application areas. The government has a target to get all major services online by 2005 and it seems as though it is putting its money where its mouth is.
