Fair dealing
Fords of Winsford, the oldest car supermarket in the country, is attempting to transform the poor service image of car dealerships, with the installation of a £250,000 sales, service and back office solution. Fords of Winsford has concentrated heavily on shedding the shady image of car dealing, making pricing transparent and removing heavy handed sales techniques. This project represents the next stage of the process as it means that the whole buying process will become centralised and so more professional. Covering 50 users, the software system comprises Epicor's eFrontOffice and eBackOffice, with distribution and warehousing modules also in use. These products are designed to give employees a single point of contact for customer information, from contact details and history, down to the order status of the vehicle, and account information. Three reasons have been cited for the project.Thefirst was the need for a new system, as the old system was unable todealeffectively with the increasing volumeof sales. There was also a desire to avoid details "falling through the cracks", with the Epicor system putting every part of the transaction in one place. The final reason was a wish to improve the customer experience.
