As part of a UK-wide programme to further upgrade cargo security, Menzies World Cargo (MWC) is extending the installation of new CCTV equipment at airport facilities in Birmingham, East Midlands and Glasgow. The 200 visible and hidden cameras are being installed and maintained by security specialists, ADT. A dedicated control room operated for Menzies will provide constant monitoring inside and outside its warehouse operations and live images can also be accessed and monitored from remote locations by MWC's management team and independent security advisors. The new system will also support a detailed audit trail of handling processes to help eliminate health and safety incidents and reduce customer claims. MWC has worked closely with the airport police and the airport authority over the implementation of the new security camera system. The £300,000 commitment to enhanced security and safety is part of a multi-million pound investment programme by Menzies World Cargo to improve customer services. Other initiatives include Hermes, MWC's new £2.7 million-business management system, and a £2.5 million programme to renew the company's forklift truck fleet in the UK.
