e-learning and e-training

I read many articles in business/trade papers about e-learning. In almost all cases, this refers to what I would more properly call e-training – the development of relatively simple knowledge and skills associated with a particular technology or a particular job role. E-learning is more than this– and needs a significantly richer online experience.E-learning is much more about the communication and interaction between tutor and student and between students on a peer-to-peer basis than it is about the transmission of"information". Many academic staff – and certainly many academic managers – have not realised this and continue to suggest that e-learning involves the (expensive) development of multimedia learning materials. It doesn't. e-learning – as with all learning – needs good (expensive)teachers!
