The retail electrical goods sector registered an estimated £1,400m turnover for 1973, but is at the moment facing problems. The general downturn in consumer expenditure on durable goods is a factor, plus the reduced disposable income of the middle and lower income groups. But supplies from manufacturers are reported to be easing now, and there should be fewer lost sales from this source.
