Data processing for photographic suppliers

Photopia are suppliers ‐ primarily of photographic equipment, which takes up some 70% of their £6m turnover. They also supply calculators, and optical and audio equipment. They use a number of retail outlets ‐ specialist independents, multiples and department stores; they also supply mail order Companies but do not sell direct to the public themselves. A special feature of their operation is the issue of a well‐produced catalogue to each of their retailers, who are encouraged to use it as their own. The company has now put into operation a Singer System Ten; this article describes its various applications.
