This paper has the limited purpose of commenting on some issues raised in Beckerman's paper ‘The desirability of economic growth’. Beckerman's paper is inspired by a desire to correct what he conceives to be the ‘exaggerated’ and ‘over simplified’ view of the so‐called anti‐growth school, particularly as presented by Mishan.
