This paper describes work in progress towards the development and application of a new practice and research methodology for the study and improvement of decision‐making: CCS (Computer Case Simulator). It will aid clinicians and researchers gain a greater understanding of the decision‐making process. CCS has immediate practice applications for improving diagnosis by providing clinicians with instant feedback about their decision‐making patterns. This should facilitate more standardized and accurate decision‐making . In this paper CCS is applied to making a first systematic study of the critical decision‐making process of Mental Health Officers in the Israel Defence Forces, when deciding the disposition of soldiers, after a two day course of intensive treatment for (CSR) Combat Stress Disorder.
