Lubricant Coding

Many methods of lubricant coding have been devised and employed as aids to maintenance and to operators whose duty it is to top‐up reservoirs and grease bearings. Until PERA published their coding system there was no recognised classification or method in this country, although many companies had devised their own. Lubricating oil companies have always been helpful in suggesting coding systems for their clients and some of these have been described in this journal over the years.
