THE first major departure from conventional US automobile window mechanisms in 25 years is a tape‐drive system which relies on a new plastic tape from Du Pont in conjunction with components of Du Pont engineering plastics. Both products, it is claimed, stand up better to the frictional and tensional stresses than do the more conventional metal window‐winding mechanisms.
