TREATMENT for corrosion resistance of spun‐cast ductile iron pipes produced by Stanton & Stavely Limited, of Ilkeston, Derbyshire, is carried out by coating the pipes with Intex, a non‐toxic, bitumin‐base compound. Originally Intex was applied by the crude process of rolling the pipes across an absorbent sponge‐like surface saturated with the semi‐liquid coating material. The method was time‐consuming and could not be relied upon to produce consistently even‐depth finish.
