TRACTOR sales in major European countries decreases by about 7 per cent in 1984. Figure 1 shows the trend of tractor registrations in individual countries. However tractor population is still growing, even though very slowly, in most countries. Exceptions, where there is faster tractor population growth, are Spain, Italy and Yugoslavia. These trends underate the tractor power available, since smaller and less sophisticated machines are gradually being replaced by larger, more sophisticated ones, with a move to turbo‐charged four‐wheel drive models.
