The PROGRAMME OF THE ANNUAL Meeting of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, held in New York from the 1st to the 6th December, 1957, carried the slogan New Knowledge to Create Tomorrow's World and the papers and discussion of the eight Lubrication Sessions certainly lived up to this idea. In addition to the presentation by reporters of the papers prepared for the Conference on Lubrication and Wear held in October by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, there were some twelve original papers presented and discussed. Each paper represented at least some original research contribution and, states our reviewer there was no tedious repetition of generalities so often associated with papers by “practical” men.
