Testing temporary corrosion preventives

A Symposium on Testing of Temporary Preventives was presented at a meeting of the Institute of Petroleum on 29th March last, when a number of valuable papers on this important subject were presented. Considerable advancement in the preparation and application of rust inhibitors and corrosion preventives has taken place both for components in use and for those in storage. In many cases, the products must act as lubricants and in most cases, lubricants are used in their preparation. The Symposium was concerned with testing these products and not with their application except insofar as experience shows that important factors must be taken into account in testing. We give the principal points from these papers.
