POLYTETRAFLUORETHYLENE (PTFE) is well known as an anti‐friction material due to its low friction and ‘non‐stick’ properties. PTFE coatings provide an economical method of combining the strength and rigidity of the substrate with these properties of the polymer. However, until now, coating processes have been either expensive or limited to thicknesses which were often below the requirements for long life.
