Down‐to‐earth tribology

SKF has designed and developed a Y‐bearing equipped with a special seal comprising a three‐lipped rubber ring bonded to a dirt‐repelling sheet steel washer for use with disc implements and other agricultural machinery. The seal provides excellent protection against the dirt and water to which agricultural machines are subjected. The bearing has an aligning property in its housing, which can be a standard SKF Y‐bearing housing, because of its sphered outer ring outside diameter. The bearing has a square bore as square‐section shafts predominate in the machines for which the bearing is intended.
