UNION CARBIDE'S Coatings Service has developed a new plasma‐torch‐applied coating which utilizes cobalt‐based alloys to provide a high‐temperature, corrosion‐resistant overlay for the aerofoil surfaces of the Rolls‐Royce Pegasus engine's high‐pressure turbine blades.
