THE success of the National Centre of Tribology's three‐year study of plasma‐assisted coating technology (PACT) described in our January/February 1987 issue, has justified a further similar study. This has been announced with another acronym — CAST (coatings and surface technology); funding is again by Government grant with participating industrial companies chipping in a share.
