Modern lubricators are usually so efficient that it is difficult to foresee any method of altering design to improve them. It might be possible to effect improvements which result in cheaper manufacture but it is difficult to improve their operating efficiency. The latest mechanical lubricator to be produced by The British Manzel Oil Pump Company, Durranhill Road, Carlisle, however, has been designed with two very important advancements in mind. The first of these is that this lubricator can be used for any type of oil, including oils containing any type of chemical additives. A lot of trouble has been caused with highly detergent oils when using the conventional type of mechanical lubricator which incorporates a water‐filled sight feed glass because the additives tend to cause streaming of the oil up the guide wire or clouding of the sight feed.
